Inquire Training – Gradebook Aggregation

The gradebook in Inquire (Moodle) has several options for aggregation strategy. For a complete list and details about each aggregation, visit Moodle’s help documentation.

The most popular aggregation used at Roanoke College is weighted mean of grades. Follow these steps to set up weighted mean of grades aggregation in your gradebook:

Step 1

Within your course in Inquire, locate the Administration box on the left hand side of the page and, under Course administration, click on Gradebook setup.

Step 2

Find the row with the course name and click Edit under Actions and then select Edit settings.

Step 4

You will then see a page that will allow you to change the overall aggregation for the course.

Select the aggregation from the drop down menu and click Save changes:

If you select weighted mean of grades for the overall aggregation, you will then be able to assign a “weight” to each of the categories. For example, if you have a category entitled exams you may set that category to be worth 30% of a student’s final grade while you may decide to make classroom attendance worth only 5% of the grade.

Step 5

At the bottom of the page, click Save changes to save the changes you made to your gradebook.
