We recommend turning off voice purchasing through your app, to prevent unwanted purchases off your Amazon account. You can do this by:
- Going into your Amazon Alexa app
- Tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner and go into settings
- Tap Alexa Account
- Tap Voice Purchasing
- Make sure the “Purchase by Voice” feature is greyed out.
You can also mute the microphone on your Echo Dot by pressing the button with the microphone icon. When muted, the light ring around the top of your Echo Dot will turn red. You can turn the microphone on again by pushing the button a second time. You may also unplug the Echo Dot to turn it completely off.
