Cable TV in dorms
Hooking up to the cable in your room is a simple process. All you need is a Coaxial Cable and your television. Locate the data jack in your room. This can be hidden behind furniture so if you don’t immediately see it look behind the bed and dressers. It should look similar to this if you aren’t familiar with it. Then just plug the cable into the TV and into the wall.
I found the data jack, but its broken!
This can happen quite easily due to furniture getting hit into during the moves between school years. Contact the your RA or the Helpdesk and we’ll have it fixed for you.
I’m not getting any channels!
In order to view television channels on campus, you will need to check two things:
- Run auto-program on your TV. Please see your TV’s manual for instructions on how to do this.
- Verify that you have a QAM Tuner inside of your television. Please see Campus Televideo’s Frequently Asked Questions here. If you do not have a QAM Tuner in your television, you can purchase one online.
The picture is fuzzy or blurry!
You may on occasion find that you get bad reception on your TV. This is usually due to the high volume of use our equipment receives. Let the Helpdesk know and the IT telecom team will work on this issue.
I don’t have a coaxial cable!
IT does not provide coaxial cables to students, but these cables are available at various stores such as Walmart, Radioshack, Best Buy, and Target.
