How to Connect a Windows Device to the Wireless Network

  1. Turn on your device and log in.
  2. Click the Network/Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar.
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned On.
  4. Select the name of the wireless network from the list.
  • If you are Faculty or Staff, select the RCFacStaff option
  • If you are a Student, Select the RCStudent option
  1. Click Connect.
  2. You will then be prompted to enter your Roanoke username and password.
  3. Click OK.
  4. You should receive this message:

Continue connecting?

If you expect to find (RCStudent or RCFacStaff) in this location, go ahead and connect. Otherwise, it may be a different network with the same name.

  2. It should give you a connected, Secured message if it was successful.

How to Verify You Are Connected

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Visit a website such as a search engine or school homepage.
  3. If the page loads successfully, your device is connected.

When to Contact IT Support

Contact your school’s IT Help Desk if:

  • You cannot see the wireless network name
  • Your password is not accepted
  • You can connect but cannot access the internet
  • Your device repeatedly disconnects from Wi-Fi
